More
than a salary...
We
consider our employees to be our greatest asset, and benefits
give us the opportunity to help you maintain and enhance your
quality of life. We're constantly reviewing and upgrading
our benefits portfolio, so when you join us, be sure to fully
explore your benefit options with your Human Resources representative.
Here is a sample of the wide range of benefits available to
DCAA employees.
Thrift
Savings Plan (TSP)
Want
a million dollar nest egg?
The
popular Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) is the Government's version
of a 401(k) tax-deferred retirement savings and investment
program. Based on a 10% annual rate of return, an auditor
who invests the maximum amount in TSP each year could have
earnings of over $1,000,000 at the end of a 30-year career.
TSP
investments are made with pre-tax dollars, and taxes on your
investment earnings and contributions are deferred until the
money is withdrawn.
You
may currently elect to contribute up to 11% of your salary
to the TSP, with DCAA matching your contributions, dollar
for dollar, up to 5% of your salary. DCAA will automatically
contribute an amount equal to 1% of your salary to your TSP
account!

Life
Insurance
Unlike employees of many private sector companies, most of
our employees are automatically eligible for the Federal Employees'
Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) when they start working for DCAA.
More importantly, initial coverage under FEGLI is not subject
to physical examination and does not exclude employees having
pre-existing medical conditions.
In
addition to Basic coverage, you may elect one of three forms
of Optional insurance to supplement the Basic coverage. The
cost of Basic insurance is shared between you and the Government
and is not affected by your age. More information on the FEGLI
program can be found on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management
Web site at www.opm.gov/insure/life.

Holidays
and Leave
At
DCAA, we realize that you have a life beyond your job, and
we provide you with the time to enjoy it. As a new DCAA employee,
you will benefit from 10 paid holidays, paid annual (vacation
or personal) leave, and sick leave. As you progress in your
career, you will earn up to 26 days of annual leave each year.
The amount of leave earned is based on your years of service
as shown below:

And
since life is frequently unpredictable, you have the added
bonus of being able to carry up to 240 hours (30 days) of
unused annual leave into the next calendar year.
In
addition to annual leave, DCAA employees earn 13 days of sick
leave each year, accumulated at the rate of 4 hours per biweekly
pay period. Sick leave can be used during times of illness,
for medical appointments, to care for a sick family member,
or for bereavement. Unlike annual leave, there is no limit
to the amount of sick leave you can carry over from year to
year.
Once
you have been employed with DCAA for a minimum of one year,
you are entitled to coverage under the Family and Medical
Leave Act, which allows you to take up to 12 weeks of leave
without pay for the birth or care of new children, a serious
health condition of an immediate family member, or a serious
health condition of your own.
DCAA
employees also benefit from other leave programs, such as
Voluntary Leave Transfer, Court Leave, Military Leave, and
paid excused absences for special pre-approved circumstances.

Health
Insurance
No
two people are alike, so no single health benefit plan will
fit everyone's individual needs.
The
Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program is an optional
benefit, allowing you to choose coverage that best fits your
needs from a wide variety of health insurance plans, including
well-known national plans, HMOs, and regional providers.
Regardless
of which plan you choose -
-
You will have 60 days from your first workday to enroll
in FEHB.
-
Your enrollment will be effective on the first day of the
pay period after you establish eligibility and select a
plan.
-
The Federal Government will share the cost of premiums with
you. Your share will be automatically deducted from your
pay.
-
If you do not elect to enroll when you start work with DCAA,
you will have an opportunity to enroll or to switch plans
during an annual "open
season." In addition, you will have the option to revisit
your health plan enrollment in certain instances such as
marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, and relocation
to a geographic area not covered by your existing plan.
-
Immediate family members are eligible for coverage, and
you will be able to change from individual to family enrollment
- or the reverse - following a change in family status.

Injury
Compensation
Accidents
happen. But you can rest easy knowing that the Federal Employee's
Compensation Act (FECA) provides you with pay, medical care
and assistance, vocational rehabilitation, and reemployment
rights in the unlikely event that you sustain a disabling
injury while performing your official duties.
