DCAA Auditors Protect America’s Investment

The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) is looking for talented people to join our participative work teams at one of our 350+ field audit offices around the country.

If you are an American citizen, who has or will complete a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing (up to 6 semester hours of which may be in business law) as part of successful completion of a 4 year academic course of study, you may be eligible for employment with DCAA. For complete information regarding qualification requirements for DCAA, please visit the OPM Qualification Standards web site.

As a DCAA auditor, you will be part of an elite team charged with protecting America’s defense investments. Through application of standard quantitative methods and information technology programs, you will take part in audits of a wide variety of defense contracts – often right at the source. Many of our auditors are assigned to branch offices and perform mobile audit assignments at various contractor locations, while others are assigned to resident offices or sub-offices at major contractor locations. Wherever you are assigned, you will have the opportunity to actively participate with other team members, providing updates on the status of audit assignments and sharing information in the accomplishment of DCAA Strategic Plan objectives.

As an entry-level auditor, you will be trained in the application of accounting principles and auditing standards, and familiarized with the DCAA contract audit mission, programs, functions and organization. From comprehensive orientation coursework at the Defense Contract Audit Institute, to accomplishment of graduate level study and earning of your CPA certificate, the learning never stops. Your work will consistently challenge you to move ahead in your career, and with the guidance and support of your supervisor, your DCAA mentor and your teammates, you will develop the ability to work independently and to perform highly complex and sensitive audits.

Whether conducting tests and examinations of contractors’ direct labor and material costs, verifying appropriateness of charges for materials and labor, or using computerized audit techniques and quantitative methods such as statistical sampling and graphic analysis, DCAA auditors are fully engaged in diverse and exciting work assignments on mission-critical projects – assignments designed to challenge their imagination, skill, and commitment to excellence.

Click on the links shown below to apply for auditor positions through USAJOBS. To obtain additional information regarding other recruitment sources used by DCAA to fill entry-level auditor positions (such as college job fairs or career intern program announcements), please contact directly the regional human resources office(s) for the geographic area(s) in which you are seeking employment. See the listing below.

Take the DCAA challenge. Because where you begin...CAN make all the difference.
