Regional Audit Manager
20+ years with DCAA
When
I was a college student, auditing was one field I never expected
to have as a career - at the time, it seemed much too theoretical
and subjective to me, and I didn't have a good understanding
of what it was all about. However, within a few months after
joining DCAA as an auditor trainee, I was actively participating
in actual audits. That hands-on experience so early in my
career gave me a clear idea of what auditing really was, and
the confidence that I could make a real contribution - I knew
right then that it was the career for me.
Because
this is a worldwide agency, you have the opportunity to work
in different locations. In addition to geographic diversity,
there is a great deal of variety in the work done by DCAA
auditors. The agency has two distinct types of field operations:
resident offices located at Fortune 500 corporations and mobile
offices that deal generally with the smaller companies. Auditors
are encouraged to gain experience in both environments.
If
you have a positive attitude and willingness to work hard,
you will be recognized for your efforts. DCAA employees are
recognized for their contributions through a wide variety
of monetary and non-monetary awards. Employee innovations
and achievements are also recognized during our Quality Conferences.
In DCAA, our goal is for all employees and managers to be
stimulated, to grow, to be challenged, and to move up.
