Opportunities and Resources

DCAA realizes that individual diversity and varied perspectives make our agency stronger and more effective. Individuals who have medically documented disabilities are considered for any position at DCAA, including auditors, human resources, IT specialists, and more.

We provide reasonable accommodations and assistive technologies to ensure all team members have the tools to succeed in their work and training environments. DCAA also uses several special hiring authorities to help qualified candidates join our team more easily.

Schedule A Hiring Authority - This program gives agencies an optional way to hire individuals with intellectual, psychiatric, or severe physical disabilities. After providing “proof of disability” documentation, candidates are offered an exception to the traditional competitive hiring process. Candidates must be qualified for the position and meet all eligibility and assessment requirements, understanding that applying under Schedule A does not guarantee anyone a job.

30% or More Disabled Veteran - This allows an agency to fill any position for which a veteran applicant is qualified, without using competitive selection procedures. There is no grade-level limitation. The initial appointment is time-limited to no more than 60 days, but the employee may be converted to permanent status at any time during the appointment.

Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) - This program connects highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities to federal employers nationwide through summer or permanent jobs. WRP is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment and the U.S. Department of Defense. To be eligible for the program, students must be current full-time undergraduate or graduate students, or have graduated during the past year.

Additional information on these programs and other resources can be found on the OPM website and on USAJOBS.
