Senior Executive Service

The members of the Senior Executive Service (SES) lead America’s workforce.  The SES is comprised of an elite group of women and men charged with leading the continuing transformation of the Federal Government.  These leaders possess well-honed executive skills, share a broad perspectiveSES Insignia of government, and have a commitment to public service grounded in the Constitution. The SES was designed to be a corps of executives selected for their leadership qualifications - not their technical expertise.  Senior Executives serve in key positions just below the top Presidential appointees and are the major link between these appointees and the rest of the Federal workforce.  They operate and oversee nearly every government activity in approximately 75 Federal agencies.

The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) values its Senior Executives for their leadership, professional integrity, and commitment to the highest ideals of public service.  Each Senior Executive has a sense of ownership and pride in a set of common goals, values, and attributes that extend beyond individual aspirations and transcend their commitment to the Agency’s mission.  If you are seeking a rewarding career, apply to become one of DCAA’s elite members of the Senior Executive Service. Meet DCAA's current SES team here.

How to Apply

DCAA Senior Executive Management Office (SEMO) manages all SES recruitment vacancies.  The SES vacancies are announced using two methods: 1) The Department of Defense (DoD) Internal Recruitment Opportunity (IRO) announcement issued by the Washington Headquarters Services, SEMO; or 2) Job Opportunity Announcement (JOA) issued by the Defense Finance Accounting Service, Human Resources Office.  DoD employees should contact their SES Program Manager or DCAA SEMO for details on an IRO announcement. The JOAs are available on the USAJOBs website. We recommend the applicant review the JOA thoroughly as it contains specific requirements and application instructions.

Applicants must submit all required documentation listed in the JOA (e.g. resume, SF50, transcript, etc.) and a narrative statement addressing each of the Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and the Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs).  The ECQ narrative is limited to 10 pages and the narrative for the MTQ is limited to 6 pages.  Additional guidance is provided in The Guide to Senior Executive Service Qualifications.
