Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Editor's Note: This article is part of the Asian America Pacific Islander Heritage Month series written by DCAA Employees.

I am Sasa Jiang, a Senior Auditor in Maryland Branch Office, Redondo Beach Sub-Office.  I was born in Taiwan and obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from National Cheng Kung University.  I came to the United States in 2009 and earned my Master’s Degree in Accountancy from California State University, Los Angeles in 2012.  I became a naturalized citizen in 2013 and joined the Defense Contract Audit Agency in 2014.

Being a Taiwanese American, I greatly appreciate that the management maintains a work environment of mutual respect and appreciation for the diverse cultures and backgrounds of all employees.  The agency provides a discrimination free workplace to ensure that all employees are provided a full and fair opportunity to contribute to the fullest extent of their abilities in pursuing a career in DCAA.

During my seven years of experience with the Agency, I have completed a variety of audits, such as Incurred Costs, Forward Pricing Proposal, Truth in Negotiations, Preaward Accounting System, etc.  My critical skills were improved solidly by performing various assignments and working with different audit teams.  The Agency creates an environment where employees feel appreciated for their contributions and accomplishments, my hard work was recognized by receiving six individual awards and one group award.

More importantly, career development is truly a core value; the Agency has supported me to obtain a professional certificate - Certified Fraud Examiner in 2017, which is one of my personal goals based on organizational and job position goals.  In the future, I would like to provide accounting and financial advisory services to investigative agencies and the Department of Justice in civil and/or criminal fraud investigations.
