What working at DCAA means to me

By DCAA Staff Writer

My name is Bharat Poudel and I am a Senior Auditor for DCAA, Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Linthicum Resident Office. I received my first Bachelor’s Degree from Tribhuvan University in Nepal in 2005, graduated with my B.S. in Accounting from University of Baltimore in 2014, and am currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Baltimore and expect to graduate in December of 2021.

I joined DCAA in 2017 and have been involved in a variety of audit assignments such as  forward pricing, incurred cost, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) audits, centralized audits such as Reconciliation of Certified Financial Accounting Templates to the Consolidated Financial Accounting Template, and Consolidated Financial Statement. Our team recently had a kick off meeting for an Accounting System Audit and I am excited to gain that experience. I feel fortunate to work in a setting that promotes cooperation, collaboration and mutual respect among the team members. Through the various opportunities of skill development such as frequent trainings, career development opportunities, and academic development opportunities, I really feel like I have been expanding my skills, abilities, and potential to further perform better in the future. I believe DCAA’s strong leadership, teamwork, trust and coordination among team members are some of the factors that enable individuals like me to progress through their careers and explore new opportunities, gain new skills, and reach their full potential.

My journey up to now has taught me that if one has willpower, hard work, honesty, and strong determination to do something, there are no limitations to progress and I am very grateful to the norms, values, and culture that I adopted to become what I am today. I look forward to making more positive impacts in the Agency and to its performance standards while working under its umbrella.
