North Texas Branch Office receives letter of recognition for outstanding work from contractor

By DCAA Staff Writer

The North Texas Branch Office (NTBO) recently worked with the Army Contracting Command – Rock Island (ACC-RI) through a proposal audit and follow-on negotiation support. NTBO provided support on a $493 million cost-plus fixed-fee proposal the office previously audited. During the previous audit, the team identified $91 million in questioned costs. The team’s work led to substantial savings when they identified potential overstatements and applied rigorous analytical techniques to provide recommendations. NTBO auditors were requested to attend the in-person negotiations. Attending the negotiations allowed the team to provide valuable insight throughout the negotiations. Following the negotiation, the ACC Procurement Contracting Officer expressed their appreciation for DCAA’s invaluable support, highlighting the team’s pivotal work during the negotiation process to save millions. In summary, the letter shared:

“I wanted to send you a quick note regarding the great support I received from the DCAA team during recent negotiations... Responses to our questions were always quick and clear, and the entire team was very proactive in keeping things moving forward on a time sensitive effort. We were able to pull nearly $70M worth of equipment out of the subcontract cost pool… The team’s sanity check and real time review of updated actuals and rates also allowed us to reach an agreement on cost.”

The NTBO team shares, “DCAA remains committed to providing high-quality audit and advisory services that enhance the integrity and efficiency of defense acquisitions.” This success underscores DCAA’s critical role to help ensure the DoD received fair and reasonable prices for defense contracts.
