Strengthening collaboration within the DoD

By DCAA Staff Writer

DCAA’s Eastern Region participated in a joint meeting with the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Mid-Atlantic on Feb. 26, 2025. The partnership enforced the crucial relationship between the two agencies and had over 150 attendees from DCMA offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and representatives from Eastern Region, Central Region, Field Detachment offices and DCAA Headquarters in attendance.

The meeting covered key topics of interest to both agencies, including DCMA’s 2026 vision, updates on DCAA’s Enterprise Performance Information Center (EPIC) system, the Independent Public Accounting (IPA) Program, Business System Corrective Action Plans and Follow-up Audits, and concerns with hybrid contracts. These discussions provided valuable insights into ongoing initiatives and helped strengthen the working relationship between DCAA and DCMA.

DCAA co-presented on the session covering EPIC and how the new system improves data accessibility and flow for both DCAA and the user end of the system. The presenters shared with attendees the crucial work EPIC has providing accurate reports to contracting officers and supervisory monitors while providing clear visibility into audit results and follow-up actions throughout negotiations and settlement. The IPA Program was another focus at the meeting where the importance of coordinating between contracting officers and the IPA or DCAA after the audit report is issued to ensure timely responses to audit findings. DCAA also helped co-present the session on Contractor Business System approvals. While DCMA oversees the process, the process is highly dependent on DCAA audits for compliance verification. The discussion focused on streamlining coordination between both agencies to adhere to regulatory timeframes, address deficiencies, and establish corrective action plans.

DCAA and DCMA continue these collaborative activities and integrated discussions for future training and process improvements, ensuring both agencies remain aligned in their work to support the Warfighter.
