Fort Belvoir, Va. –
DCAA has over 500 first line supervisors who manage an audit team. They are responsible for planning and conducting audits as well as developing their employees. Last week, almost 300 supervisors attended the biennial Supervisors Conference in Denton, Texas.
During the three-day conference, presentations from speakers focused on developing self, teams, and technical skills. The event included discussions on supervising in a hybrid environment, motivating teams, and developing employees. The technical audit aspect of a supervisor’s position was also a focus area with presentations on managing workload and considerations for assigning work to employees. External speakers from a major defense contractor and the Defense Contract Management Agency provided their perspective on developing solid, cooperative working relationships.
The participants were also given the opportunity to be “an executive for a day” by voicing their thoughts on four of the key initiatives currently underway in DCAA. Their input will be provided to those working the initiatives as they form their recommendations.
This was the second session of the conference, the first taking place in May when just over 200 supervisors attended.
