Fort Belvoir, Va. –
An Alessia Pro Trans Spedition (APT) owner, who was also employed with Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), recently pleaded guilty to kickbacks and favorable treatment. They received sentencing of 31 months, time served, and $7 million in restitution. The case involves allegations that the APT owner, while acting as a KBR employee at the time, received kickbacks in return for favorable treatment of APT. The APT owner fraudulently ordered the most valuable type of truck when a fair and reasonably priced truck was required and provided.
The case began with help from the DoD Hotline and was investigated by the Defense Criminal Investigative Services, European Post of Duty, and the Romanian Anti-Corruption Directorate. DCAA Operations Investigative Support (OIS) auditors supported the criminal investigation by matching invoices to the data file provided by the Defense Criminal Investigative Services. OIS auditors also reviewed the transaction details and remain involved in the case. Additional sentencing and restitutions are pending.
