Celebrating our heroes on Armed Forces Day

By DCAA Staff Writer

This Armed Forces Day, DCAA honors those who serve in all six branches of the military and thanks them for protecting our home on land, at sea and in the air and space. Armed Forces Day was established following the National Security Act of 1947 to raise awareness of the newly unified military under the DoD. While the Armed Forces are now firmly integrated as one, we continue using this holiday to celebrate and honor our military and current service members. Celebrations typically include exhibitions, educational events and parades that showcase the capabilities and commitments of our Armed Forces.

The month of May is Military Appreciation Month and Armed Forces Day is just one day in a month of celebrating our military and their families. Also celebrated in the month of May is Military Spouse Appreciation Day and Memorial Day.
