Success as an intern leads to a full time auditor

By Shwezin Oo

I am Shwezin Oo, an Auditor with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), McLean Resident Office. In 2018, I graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, a major I chose because I love numbers. I am working toward my Master’s Degree in Information Systems and have one more year until I graduate.

I initially joined DCAA as an intern in 2017 and was offered a permanent position immediately after I graduated. After nine months as an intern-auditor, I received the “Month of the Eagle Eyes Award.” I have also earned “On the Spot Acknowledgment” awards twice during my internship period.

During my almost three years of experience with DCAA, I have done a variety of audits such as Forward Pricing Rate Proposal, Incurred Costs, Truth in Negotiation, Cost Accounting, and Paid Vouchers. For me, the challenge of working at DCAA has been learning a variety of things during a short period of time. However, I enjoy learning new things every day from my DCAA family. DCAA is an awesome agency that has a very flexible working environment, offers many opportunities for personal growth and development, and is a great place to work.
