Fort Belvoir, Va. –
International Accountants Day is November 10th and DCAA would like to give a big THANK YOU to all our accountants and all those in the accounting profession!
A vast majority of DCAA’s over 3,500 auditors have an accounting background and use those skills as they audit government contracts. DCAA also has accountants in our Resource Management Office, who manage and account for our annual budget. We could not do what we do without our accountants.
Who makes a good accountant or auditor? Those who thrive in the profession are organized, pay attention to details, excel at time management, and have great deductive reasoning and critical thinking skills. DCAA’s auditors and accountants are also driven by a desire for public service and live by our TEAMIT values.
International Accountants Day commemorates the date in 1494 when Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli, an Italian mathematician, published a work that included bookkeeping practices. Thanks to this publication, de Pacioli is considered the “Father of Accounting.”
