DCAA strives to help Reduce Food Insecurity with this year’s Feds Feed Families

By DCAA Staff Writer

The Feds Feed Families campaign is an annual and voluntary effort where the Federal workforce can positively impact their local communities. Since 2009, this annual government-wide campaign encourages employees from all federal departments and agencies to give in-kind contributions – food, services, and time – to food banks, pantries, and local communities. This year’s food drive highlights a summer of giving and seasonal reminders to donate throughout the year.

Last year, DCAA contributed an agency record of 44,633 pounds of food, contributing to the DoD’s over 3.7 million pounds of donated food during the 2023 campaign. Since 2015, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) leads the Feds Feed Families food drive as they support nutrition assistance to those in need throughout the entire United States, including nearly 30 million children who do not have access to food programs during the school year. Participants get involved in multiple ways including:

  • Purchasing food for online donation to a food bank or pantry
  • Taking food donations to a local food bank or pantry
  • Volunteering to help with neighborhood gardens and trees
  • Helping farms and food banks harvest produce
  • Helping distribute food
  • Donating through the Combined Federal Campaign

The Feds Feed Families campaign makes a difference to feed people, enhance food security, and helps those facing difficult times. If you are a federal employee and want to learn more about food insecurity and how to donate contribute, visit the Feds Feeds Families website.
