DCAA Welcomes Honorable Powers

The Defense Contract Audit Agency welcomed the Honorable Michael Powers, Under Secretary of War (Comptroller), to meet with DCAA Director Desautel and other Comptroller executives for discussions about the vital role auditing plays in strengthening accountability and supporting the Department of War mission.

During the visit, agency leaders discussed the Department’s priorities for financial readiness and the evolving future of auditing across the Department of War. Honorable Powers emphasized the importance of collaboration, transparency, and innovation as the Department continues working toward achieving and sustaining a clean auditDCAA Senior Executives with Honorable Powers opinion.

Director Desautel highlighted DCAA’s continued commitment to providing independent audit oversight and delivering data-driven insights that support sound financial management and operational readiness. Discussions also focused on how DCAA can continue assisting the Department through modernized audit approaches and enhanced analytical capabilities.

As part of the visit, DCAA leadership demonstrated several of the agency’s automation tools and real-time models used to track audit workload, including government property. These technologies help improve efficiency, strengthen oversight, and provide timely visibility into audit progress and results.

The visit reinforced the strong partnership between DCAA and the Department of War Comptroller community and underscored the shared commitment to accountability, stewardship of taxpayer resources, and support to the warfighter mission.
