Supervisory Auditor of the Year Announced

By DCAA Staff Writer

Ms. Katherine Joseph, European Branch Office, is DCAA’s 2022 Supervisory Auditor of the Year. She supervises audits in multiple countries including Belgium, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. She displays exceptional leadership, professional competence, and unusual devotion to her position as she handles the many diverse aspects of working in Europe. Her performance, without exception, has been outstanding.

Ms. Joseph is always looking for innovative methods to overcome the recurring issue of insufficient data provided by international subcontractors. She identified a creative method to break apart data into individual auditable parts, which was a major factor in ensuring her audit team successfully maintained its perfect 100 percent on time record.

While 2021 was difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Joseph overcame the additional hurdle of maintaining her standards of excellence while 66 percent of her team was new to the office.  She was tireless in her efforts to get the new team up-to-speed with the unique challenges of auditing foreign contractors, including language barriers, differences in accounting standards, unfamiliarity with US Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements, and local and customary business practices that do not comply with the allowability requirements.  Ms. Joseph expected excellence from her team and they responded in kind.

Ms. Joseph also works extensively with the various buying commands and builds and solidifies those relationships.  She regularly goes above and beyond, and serves as a resource to the buying commands operating both stateside and across Europe, fostering an understanding of DCAA audit services. These relationships have been instrumental to the success of the office. Ms. Joseph is an invaluable asset to the office and DCAA and deserving of this award.
