Mr. Michael Campbell, Branch Manager of the Herndon Branch Office, is DCAA’s 2022 Audit Manager of the Year. Mr. Campbell manages an office that audits three major contractors with a staff of about 45 individuals. Developing his workforce is a top priority. This focus has created a very efficient and effective audit staff, which is often able to help other offices in the region.
Mr. Campbell faced several challenges and opportunities throughout the year that had a significant impact on DCAA’s mission. Due to the nature of the work performed and the contractors his office audits, his sub-offices have collocated Field Detachment (FD) teams who perform the classified portion of the audit. Due to the growth of one contractor, a new FD team was added. Mike set the tone and work ethic in the office emphasizing that although from different DCAA organizations, the auditors were one team with the same mission. The result was a well-functioning, efficient office able to perform audits to meet customer timelines.
Mr. Campbell constantly manages his office’s workload and efficiently uses all the resources available approaching every audit emphasizing the auditors are one team. He excels at developing, coordinating, and monitoring the workload within his office to ensure the team is working at full capacity. He works with the staff to identify the priorities of the office, aligning with Region and Agency priorities, and successfully meets those priorities every time. He also reaches out to customers, builds alliances, and explains the value DCAA can add. He has successfully added new customers and kept existing customers satisfied by meeting agreed to dates.
Mr. Campbell is very knowledgeable, positive, and exemplifies DCAA’s TEAMIT values. He is very deserving of this award.
