DoD Presents Award to DCAA Auditor

By DCAA Staff Writer

As part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month events, DoD conducted a virtual awards ceremony on October 20, 2022. During the ceremony, four departmental components and 28 civilian and military personnel were recognized for their support for or contributions as workers with disabilities. "Today, we celebrate the core element of our unmatched strength as a military and Department of Defense — our people," said Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen H. Hicks. "Maintaining that strength requires tapping into every reservoir of talents and skills that America has to offer. That includes people with disabilities — who bring so much to this department through their talents, skills, education and motivation to serve."

DCAA’s Ms. Cristy Campbell, Senior Auditor, Ohio River Valley Branch Office, Dayton Piketon Sub-Office, was honored as DCAA's Outstanding Employee with a Disability for FY 2022. Ms. Campbell has 19 years of civilian employment with 12 of those years with DCAA. She is a role model within her Branch Office and ensures proper coordination and communication. Despite being hearing impaired and operating in a virtual environment. Ms. Campbell effectively leverages e-mail and virtual tools to ensure open and accurate communication. She employs a unique style of summarizing discussions with coworkers and customers. At the end of each discussion, Ms. Campbell repeats her understanding of the discussion which helps solidify her takeaway. It also demonstrates to her audience that she is committed to working with them to achieve the end goal. Additionally, Ms. Campbell ensures all of her written communications clearly explain the essential details and provides audit results with detailed findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

Her communication skills, knowledge, and dedication to the DCAA mission make her a valuable asset to the office and deserving of this award. Congratulations Ms. Campbell!
