Director’s Development Program in Leadership Graduates First Cohort

By DCAA Staff Writer

The first cohort of DCAA’s Director’s Development Program in Leadership (DDPL) graduated in a ceremony held on February 26, at DCAA Headquarters, Fort Belvoir, VA.  At the conclusion of the ceremony, DCAA Director Anita Bales said of the graduates, “Your leadership will be critical for addressing the challenges we face in the future. Our success depends on it.”

DDPL, an 18-month, executive-level program, prepared the graduates to meet future challenges. The inaugural session of DDPL began in December, 2017 with 22, GS14-15 students from DCAA, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), and Army Audit Agency (AA).

DCAA’s Defense Contract Audit Institute (DCAI) designed DDPL based on ten specific competencies in the DoD Civilian Leadership Development Continuum. In this unique program, students travel to premier universities and military commands for seminars on each of the leadership competencies, a course of study that strengthens students’ leadership skills and ability to lead organizations, programs, and people. Students also engage in two capstone events putting leadership concepts to work in the complex environment of a major command. The course prepares senior-level, career employees prepare for critical leadership positions in the federal government.

The second cohort of DDPL began in October 2018 with 32 students from nine commands.
