Fort Belvoir, Va. –
DCAA’s Facilities and Space Management Branch has continued office renovations during the pandemic. In fact, the pandemic and resulting telework simplified the process since employees are already out of the office. Renovations normally happen during a lease renewal when the facilities team will plan, budget, and procure the necessary construction, furniture and/or amenities to meet the DCAA standard for leased space.
DCAA’s office in Lowell, Mass. was completely renovated during the winter months. The office houses the General Dynamics/Raytheon Technologies Corporate Audit Directorate along with several field audit offices. During the renovation, the space was gutted, reconfigured, painted, carpeted, and furnished with modern ergonomic furniture. The new space features a larger lunch area, updated training room, and lactation and wellness rooms. The office now houses about 120 employees. While not all the employees have been in the new facilities, those who have are impressed with the renovation. “It’s such an improvement over the old facility with natural light, additional amenities, and a focus on healthy ergonomics,” stated Ann, a Human Resources Specialist.
Currently, the facility housing Eastern Region and several field audit offices the Atlanta suburb of Smyrna are under renovation. Once again, the spaces were gutted and reconfigured and will be furnished with new furniture. While not yet complete, the staff is looking forward to their new spaces. Cathy Carrell, Deputy Director Eastern Region, stated, “The facilities team was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful during the entire renovation process. The team members were top-notch advocates for the morale and safety of our staff. They made a tough job look easy and I look forward to seeing the finished renovation.”
